Global Payments, Inc Breach

04/05/12

Global Payments, a provider of card payment systems, has announced a card data breach in which as many as 1.5 million customers may be affected.  Global Payments provides card terminals to vendors like hotels, merchants and parking garages to process payments using debit and credit cards.

This breach has nothing to do with Capstone Bank systems but may affect you if you use one of the merchants that were affected by the breach.  Although we are diligently monitoring your account for fraudulent activity, we want to remind you that you are the best defense in account fraud.  Even though fraud may never occur on your account(s), it is recommended that you frequently monitor your account(s).

If you become aware of fraudulent activity occurring on your account, please contact the Bank at
(888) 902-4CAP(227), Press 0, and choose the option for your local branch.

You may also call (800) 500-1044 to have your debit/ATM card immediately closed.

NOTICE OF CHANGES IN TEMPORARY FDIC INSURANCE
COVERAGE FOR TRANSACTION ACCOUNTS

All funds in a "noninterest-bearing transaction account" are insured in full by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation from December 31, 2010, through December 31, 2012. This temporary unlimited coverage is in addition to, and separate from, the coverage of at least $250,000 available to depositors under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance rules.

The term "noninterest-bearing transaction account" includes a traditional checking account or demand deposit account on which the insured depository institution pays no interest. It does not include other accounts, such as traditional checking or demand deposit accounts that may earn interest, NOW accounts, money-market deposit accounts, and Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts ("IOLTAs").

For more information about temporary FDIC insurance coverage of transaction accounts, visit www.fdic.gov or view this video.
